Fair Trade Chocolate Cake
This delicious chocolate cake recipe is extra
scrumptious made with as many fairtrade ingredients as is available! Sweeter ethically knowing you are supporting our worldly friends – helping to empower themselves and build up their communities. Chocolate Cake Vegan – Dairy free and Egg free *½ cup (or a little less depending on taste) of ‘Trade Aid’ Cocoa Camino organic golden cane sugar or ‘Wholesome Sweeteners’ organic sugar 2 ½ cups wholemeal flour or wholemeal spelt flour ½ teaspoon sea salt *2 tsp ‘Trade Aid’ Camino organic cocoa powder *1 bar ‘Trade Aid’ 70% dark chocolate 100gm (vegan) broken into squares 1 tsp vanilla essence *1 tsp of ‘Trade Aid’ chilli powder (optional) *1 Tbsp of ‘Trade Aid’ cinnamon powder (optional) 80mls sunflower oil 180-200mls cold water ¾ tsp baking powder 1 tsp cider vinegar ‘Trade Aid’ 70% dark chocolate for grating over the top (optional) Lots of Love *= certified fairtrade Mix the dry ingredients and add in the chocolate pieces. Add the oil, vinegar and vanilla essence, then pour the cold water over the mixture. Stir gently with a fork, but do not over mix. Pour into a ring tin and bake at 180˚C for 30 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly pressed. Leave to cool until lightly warm then grate dark chocolate over the top. Enjoy!
